How Many Procedures Is Too Many for Your Mommy Makeover?

Motherhood is beautiful. It can also be exhausting, at times gross and cause some dings to your self-esteem. While there can be some stigma to acknowledging the not-so-wonderful side of becoming a mother, more and more women are getting the courage to speak up about it.

Understanding the Mommy Makeover

The mommy makeover is a combination procedure. In other words, it is multiple plastic surgeries all rolled up into one. You get to take stock of what aspects of your appearance are bothering you, then address them with the right procedures.

Which surgeries can you choose? There are no surgeries that are considered outside the mommy makeover umbrella unless your plastic surgeon sets specific parameters. And to be clear, many restrict them to those related to body contouring — liposuction, tummy tuck, skin removal, breast implants and breast lifts. 

So, in essence, what’s included in a mommy makeover depends on your and your doctor.

Can You Do It All?

While it can be tempting to add on every possible procedure, you need to consider how much is too much with a mommy makeover. You likely will want or need to limit your procedures for a few reasons:

• Recovery Time: The more you get done, the longer it takes to heal and the more uncomfortable you will be.
• Cost: The more procedures you add, the more you spend.
• Risk: For many people, there is a threshold where doing more work is going to add too much risk to be reasonable. 

Keep in mind that the limit will be different for everyone. Speak openly and honestly with your surgeon to determine where you should draw the line.
