This can mean equipping the room with extra pillows to allow for proper levels of support, as well as stocking with reading and watching material or even a mini fridge to ensure that you don’t get up more than necessary. Schedule a friend or family member to help with meals, childcare and household chores.

Don’t Speed the Process
Post-surgical recovery requires your body’s natural healing process to slowly repair tissue, muscles and nerves, which can take several weeks or months depending on the procedures involved. Your recovery can be hindered by efforts to bypass the required downtime by heading back to work early or attempting to do more than you feel comfortable with. Be patient with the process and keep in mind that a hurried recovery may negatively impact your overall results.

Follow Post-Operative Instructions
Your surgeon will provide detailed post-operative care instructions that should be closely followed. These may include wearing a compression garment, staying hydrated, changing post-surgical drains or adopting a restricted physical activity regimen. It’s important to follow your surgeon’s instructions and ask if you have any additional questions or concerns.
