We tend to be the most critical of our bodies when the weather is hot and our clothes are skimpier. And that can inspire us to decide to take charge and make a change right then. But is this the right choice?
While there is no best time for body contouring, if your goal is to look good during the summer, you need to plan ahead. Ultimately, the best season for plastic surgery will be the fall, or offseason.
What Makes Fall a Good Season for Body Contouring
Plastic surgery often means instant changes, but not instant results. After surgical procedures, there is swelling, bruising and incisions that need to heal. While the bruising and incisions should be better in about six weeks, the swelling tends to hang around for six months or more.
This means that if you get surgery in the spring, you won’t have the results you desire come summer. While winter is also an option, fall gives you the biggest buffer zone for recovery.
Another benefit of getting surgery while the weather is cold is that clothing tends to be looser and more comfortable, giving you the coverage and stretchiness you need to feel comfortable as you heal.
Of course, there could be other reasons for getting surgery, such as looking good for a specific event. And if that event is in the fall or winter, that would change when the best season is for you.
There is no one right season for body contouring for everyone, but for many, fall is ideal.
