Since most patients are very excited about their upcoming breast enhancement at our Denver offices, they sometimes forget about preparing for their post-surgical recovery time. The first few days are the hardest, but there are several things you can do to make this time easier and promote the healing process.*
Take Care of Business
First, rearrange your schedule so that after you return from your procedure, you can just take it easy. It will be very important to follow the post-surgical instructions you are provided exactly. Included in the instructions, you’ll need to avoid exercise and heavy lifting for a time after your procedure.*
Plan Ahead
In addition to rearranging your work and daily schedules to keep things light, it’s also a good idea to plan ahead around the house. Before your appointment, take care of any chores like cleaning, laundry or getting bills paid ahead of time. You definitely won’t want to worry about those things right after surgery!
Prepare Some Meals
Grocery shopping is another great thing to have taken care of before your breast augmentation. Having some easily digestible foods like pudding and juices around is a good idea, as well as crackers in case of any post-surgery nausea. Protein shakes are another easy meal. Also, if you buy some bags of frozen fruit, they can make great ice packs to reduce swelling.*
These few simple tricks, as well as having family members or a friend or two to help you out, can make a big difference in the comfort and quality of your recovery time following breast augmentation.*
