This woman came to Dr. Francesco Campanile, after losing a significant amount of weight. Although she was thrilled with her weight loss, she was unhappy with the excess skin it left behind. After significant weight loss, the skin oftentimes does not regain its elasticity after it has been stretched so significantly. This can leave patients with excess skin that will not dissipate regardless of how much they may diet or exercise. 

As a result, many individuals look to Dr. Campanile for his expert opinion and surgical techniques regarding arm lifts. After consulting with Dr. Campanile, this patient decided to move forward with an arm lift. During this procedure, excess skin is removed in an elliptical shape from the back of the arm. Dr. Campanile is unique in his arm lift technique in that his scarring is not in the traditional location. In a traditional arm lift, the resulting scar is on the medial border of the arm, or the part of the arm that lays flat against your body. These scars are visible from almost all angles, and can be unsightly.

Instead, Dr. Campanile chooses for his resulting scars to run along the backside of the arm. This decreases the visibility of the final scar, and patients are very satisfied with their scar location. Dr. Campanile also performs all of his own stitching, and so each patient can be sure that they will have an expert plastic's closure to help ensure minimal scarring.
