Initially, this 59 year old patient came to plastic surgeon Dr. Francesco Campanile because, she was unhappy with her breast size. Oftentimes, large breasts can become painful for women and so they look to surgical means to decrease their size.
During the consultation, Dr. Francesco Campanile revealed that the right breast was slightly larger than the left breast. In addition, the sternal notch to the left nipple was 37.5cm while the sternal notch to the right nipple was 39cm. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Campanile explained that the areola will need to be elevated approximatly 16.5cm on the left and 18cm on the right. This specific technique is known as the keyhole technique.
This patient decided to have cosmetic surgery with Dr. Francesco Campanile. Breast reduction surgery has one of the highest success rates and causes relatively low amounts of pain compared to other cosmetic procedures. This is because the reduction merely removes breast tissue and no muscle is affected. As a result, the recovery time is relatively short and scar management is the main focus. Unlike many other plastic surgeons who use stitching assistants during surgery, Dr. Campanile sutures everything himself, ensuring minimal scarring.
This patient is shown here three months after surgery. She is very happy with her results and feels very confident about how her breasts look.
