What’s Your Ideal?
An informal poll taken among forum users at JustBreastImplants.com asked women to rate their ideal breast size before surgery. The majority of women wanted to be between a C and D cup following the procedure. Hoping to wear a DD-DDD cup is a close second. Only a minority of women wanted results on the smaller (A-B cup) range, or larger (E or beyond).
Talking With Your Surgeon
Plastic surgeons don’t refer to your implant size by cup, but rather by CCs, corresponding to the volume of the implant instead of a bra size. One reason for this is because bra manufacturers have inconsistencies in sizing, so one company’s C-cup bra might be a B-cup from another company. Another reason is because implants of the same size may look very different on different women. Factors such as body frame, current breast size and implant placement all contribute. Measuring by volume rather than cup size leads to less miscommunication.
Getting Results
Finding middle ground between the cup size estimate most women use and the CC measurement surgeons use is key. One way to bridge this translation gap is to bring some photos along to your consultation. These can provide visual aids to show me what kind of look you want. Over the years of my experience as a plastic surgeon here in Denver, I’ve developed an eye for how to achieve the look you want. I’ll take into account your existing frame and appearance goals in order to determine which size implant I need to use.
