Q: Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
A: Dr. Campanile will take into consideration your goals, lifestyle, and unique physical characteristics before recommending any procedure, including breast augmentation. In some cases, you may be able to accomplish the look you want with a breast lift, rather than an enlargement. Many other women will combine breast enlargement with a lift.
Q: Does Dr. Campanile Use Saline or Silicone Implants?
A: Dr. Campanile has experience performing breast augmentations with both saline and silicone gel implants. The type of implant used depends on your body type, the desired look, and your personal preference. Regardless of the implant type selected, Dr. Campanile is committed to achieving a naturally augmented appearance.
Q: How Will Implant Placement Be Determined?
A: The placement of the breast implants, much like implant size and type, varies from patient to patient. Factors weighed in making this decision include your body type, appearance goals, and also the type of implant used. Depending on this information, implants may be placed behind the breast tissue or under the chest muscle. Again, the goal is a natural look with the shape you want.
Q: How Long Will the Surgery Take?
A: Not including your consultation or pre-surgery prep time, the procedure itself should take between one to two hours. After the implants are placed and the incisions are closed, you’ll be moved to a post-op recovery room until you’re ready to go home.
Q: What about Recovery Time?
A: Any surgery can be challenging for the body, and this includes plastic surgery. It’s very important to rest and not to try to do too much too soon. Overexertion can negatively impact the healing process. It’s a good idea to plan for a lighter schedule following your surgery. You should be back to normal in about a week or so, but it can still take months as subtle changes to breast shape and position are revealed.
Q: Should I Worry about Scarring?
A: While there is a risk during any surgery of visible scarring, Dr. Campanile works hard to create an end result that is as aesthetically pleasing as possible. To minimize the likelihood of unsightly scars, incisions are usually made either to follow the breast fold, or around the areola. The scar is designed to be hidden in the natural contours of the breast or in the pigmented skin of the areola.
Q: Is There Anything Else I Should Know?
A: Depending on your goals, you may consider combining procedures to be performed on the day of surgery in Denver. Breast augmentation can be combined with other breast enhancement procedures or a body contouring surgery such as liposuction or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Choosing to combine procedures in this way will mean only one recovery period, rather than two.
